Snowshoeing in Mueller Park!
Discovery's new outdoor education program features an event each hexter. This hexter, Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Staggs led an 8-hour day of learning about outdoor winter safety, properly packing a hiking backpack to stay prepared, and handling a bear encounter. The following Saturday, the teachers took the students up to Meuller State Park to put those skills to use! The students spent about 4 hours hiking on self-guided trails while orienting themselves using maps they packed in their bags. After lunch, the students learned how to snowshoe on a trail and had a blast!
