For this field experience, students visited the Pioneer Museum and the Fine Arts Center located in Downtown Colorado Springs. They are continuing their Hexter 6 adventure of learning about the history of the Pikes Peak region! At the Pioneer Museum, students were able to learn about the creation of the city of Colorado Springs. They had many exhibits available that included everything from what people used to wear during different time periods in the city, to what a tuberculosis hospital would look like. Students were greeted by tour guides who had a special scavenger hunt activity ready for the students to complete in order to find their way around the museum.
At the Fine Arts Center, students split off into groups and ventured off. Art from many different artists in the Pikes Peak region is featured there, along with intriguing exhibits that included tactile and other sensory explorations. Students had their journals in hand as they took notes and observed the artistic history of the region. Join us next week for our next field experience!
